What We Do
At our clinic, you’ll have a sleep doctor along with other professionals who get to the root of your sleeping issues. We not only help alleviate your symptoms but provide you with a treatment that targets the cause. That’s because every expert at our sleep center wants you to have a lifetime of restful sleep, not just temporary relief of your sleep disorder symptoms.
Sometimes, your anxiety or depression leads to sleep issues. On the other hand, sometimes, your sleep issues cause anxiety or depression. Either way, we can assist you in getting the sleep you need to feel better.
We treat patients who have insomnia – a condition that occurs when you can’t fall asleep or stay asleep throughout the night. You may notice if you do wake up through the night you’re not able to go back to sleep.
Sleep apnea is another common issue we treat. It consists of a person not getting an adequate amount of quality sleep because of one’s respiration pausing throughout the night. On average, a person with sleep apnea will have at least five instances of his or her breathing stopping in an hour. Often, if you have sleep apnea, you snore loudly, wake up feeling tired, or wake up throughout the night gasping for air.
You may have narcolepsy, which is when your wake and sleep cycle isn’t normal. You may not be able to control when you fall asleep.
Diagnosing Your Condition – Our Comprehensive Evaluation
The first step a sleep doctor takes, is to diagnose your condition. This part of your evaluation at our sleep center consists of you speaking to our sleep specialists about your symptoms. You provide us with information about your medical history. Often, certain conditions you currently suffer from make you more prone to sleep disorders. For instance, having heart problems or a stroke make you more at risk for sleep apnea.
Other Possible Treatments
In children, we may also prescribe a safe medication to help him or her get a better night sleep. We make sure we use non-habit forming solutions that promote sleep in your little one.
If you have sleep apnea, a member of our sleep center may prescribe either a CPAP or BiPAP to keep your airways open while you sleep.
